Town Boy Versus Kampong Boy

WORLD RENOWNED SCHOLAR VS VILLAGE INTELLECT : NO SUCH THING AS AN ISLAMIC STATE

Is this

1. Here is the first news item. Thank you to the reader who sent me this news.

KUALA LUMPUR: Muslims are advised to be careful when giving their views on hudud for fear that it could affect their religious faith.

Kelantan Mufti Datuk Mohamad Shukri Mohamad said a Muslim could not reject hudud or implementation of the law because hudud is God's law.

"If a Muslim says he/she does not reject hudud, but is against implementation of the law, that is also not allowed. Instead, say that hudud will be implemented, but prior discussions will be held with all quarters until the law can be implemented with the consent of all quarters.

"In the context of our country, which is multi-racial, hudud is said not in tandem with the constitution, but it still has to be implemented when all parties agree to it," he said when contacted by Bernama here today.

Mohamad Shukri said hudud is compulsory for Muslims, like performing the prayer, haj pilgrimage and fasting.

Yet, for some reasons, there are Muslims who ignored them, he added. – Bernama

Here is the second news item, also sent me by another reader. Thank you.

PETALING JAYA, May 22 — Islam stresses more on the delivery of justice instead of the idea of erecting an Islamic state, which is a relatively new concept with a loose definition that has proven to be divisive for Muslims, world-renowned Islamic scholar Feisal Abdul Rauf said today.

Feisal, the chairman of the Cordoba Initiative, an independent multinational project to improve Muslim-West relations, argued that the idea of the Islamic state was never mentioned in the Quran.

Even the Prophet Muhammad had never sought to establish one during his lifetime, he added,

“Justice is central to the Islamic state but the notion of the state is really not an important concept. What is important are the deliverables” Feisal told a forum on “Constructing and Islamic Government and Rule of Law Index”.

“Did the Quran tell us to create an Islamic state? Even the Prophet and his successors did not seek to erect an Islamic state,” he added.

Shariah is the legal component of Islamic teachings aimed at protecting and advancing five key components — life, religion, family, property and dignity.

Feisal said that although Islamic scholars worldwide have differing views on the idea of the Islamic state, all agree that justice and the protection of all the key components of the Shariah principles supersedes the notion of an Islamic state.

In Muslim-majority Malaysia, the idea of the Islamic state has become a crucial issue with religion increasingly politicised as a result of the battle for Malay support between the country’s two major political parties — Umno and PAS.

Malays in Malaysia are all Muslims.

Feisal pointed out that the issue has divided Muslims all over the world, citing Egypt as an example where political upheavals in the name of erecting the Islamic state has prompted fellow followers of the faith to kill one another.

“Division has been created by polemics that has made religion political… this issue is fragmenting the ummah (community),” he said.

In his lecture, the scholar suggested that even those adamant to push for the Islamic state cannot define the term coherently.

He said Muslims should focus on working towards improving existing foundations to deliver justice in accordance with Islamic teachings.

Feisal also said that should the goal to set up an Islamic state becomes a hindrance to justice then the objective is no longer Islamic as “adil” or fairness in Arabic and Malay is paramount to the religion.

“Focus on the substance. Islam is about development. If you do something that prevents development then you are doing something un-Islamic”.

My comments : Ok folks here is my world renowned intellectual opinion. This whole idea of an "Islamic state" is just crap.  The so called shariah laws are NOT Allah's law. They are sectarian laws that differ from sect to sect.

Please note the following points by Imam Feisal of the Cordoba Initiative :
  • the idea of the Islamic state was never mentioned in the Quran.
  • relatively new concept with loose definition - divisive for Muslims
  • Even Prophet never sought to establish one during his lifetime
  • Even Prophet and his successors did not seek to erect an Islamic state,” he added
  • Islamic scholars worldwide have differing views on the idea of the Islamic state
  • Feisal pointed out that the issue has divided Muslims all over the world
  • Focus on the substance. Islam is about development.
  • If you do something that prevents development then you are doing something un-Islamic
I agree. If you do anything that prevents development you are kafir. Kafir means someone who turns things upside down, someone who covers things up, who puts and end to something good, someone who goes against what is good.

And if you are poor and remain poor generation after generation, it simply means you are under the influence of satan. If you are a Muslim and you remain poor for generation after generation then it means you are a "Muslim under the influence of Satan".

And here is the verse from the Quran that proves it :

Surah 2:268   "The satan promises you poverty .."  (Al shaytaanu ya'iddu-kumu al faqra..)

The satan promises to make you poor. Usually poor also means not clever. Not clever means stupid.

On the other hand Allah promises to make the .Muslims rich :

Surah 93:8  "He found you poor, and made you rich"  (Wawa jadaka Aa-ilan fa-aghna).

'He found you poor..' is in the past tense.  If we were poor and then we came into Allah's guidance it should lift us out of poverty. We should become wealthy and happy. Wealth and happiness means to be cleverer.  Not stupid.

Surely then the people who live in poverty, stupidity, hatred for their neighbours, anger and violence for generation after generation are not part of Allah's scheme of things.  But this seems to be the endless fate of the people who follow the village intellects.
